I have been seeing a lot more discussions of creatures that are controversial to include in art and fiction and Im curious if anybody has a full list of these creatures. wendigos were not too huge a shock but after seeing that there was controversy over Golems I figured it would be good to ask.

I don't think any creatures are really problematic; I don't know anyone who has real problems with things like Golems and Wendigos. Just keep in mind that most of these creatures are fairly significant within their own cultures, and try to be respectful. But there aren't any creatures I would consider to be truly off-limits because of that.

I agree with Wannabe here, because cultural appropriation is taking a culture and then directly benefiting from it without actually respecting it or understanding it, from my own knowledge anyway. Discussing creatures and using them in worldbuilding projects merely serves to help preserve the folklore of the culture in question, and encourages people to look into the nations from which the monsters came.

well sounds good pretty good too me I intend to be respectful in my portrayals of these creatures anyway just because I think they are so fascinating so that will not be a problem. also what about Skinwalkers ?

With Skinwalkers I would actually suggest moving away from mythical accuracy and using something vaguely Skinwalker-like (you could even use the term Skinwalker, because it's a rough translation and not a Navajo word) rather than straight-up adapting them from the myth. I'd look at The Dresden Files' Skinwalkers for inspiration.

The Yenaldooshi are pretty much the mythologically 'correct' version of the skinwalker - preserving the idea of what a skinwalker was before it became completely conflated with the modern ideal of a Wendigo (another bizarrely modified Native American myth for the modern time) and the so-called 'Rake'. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course. I'm by no means an expert on skinwalker lore.
