Hi! So you're looking for information on the Baldanders? Or is that your favourite monster? Because if it's info you're looking for then you've certainly come to the right place! The Baldanders is also known as the 'Soon-Another' because of its powerful shapeshifting abilities. It's not technically a mythical creature, but it was featured in Germanic literature after being invented by a playwright/shoemaker called Hans Sachs. It represents the continual change in nature and in society, and has the ability to change its form into literally anything. According to some later literary references to the creature, it is often described as having a human torso and head, large bird wings, the tail of a fish, with one leg of a goat and the other of a bird. It carries a sword on its belt as well as a book with drawings of the forms it has previously taken, and its only goal seems to be to change into as many different objects as possible.

QuirkyBestiary, thak for informations. In mmy project, baldanders are not creatures, they are wizards who search, dominate and use material from monsters. They put organs of monsters in their bodies,to cause then mutations.

Now I'm thinking of using Baldanders very differently as well, not as a wizard, but as a playable character which can cause different mutations by adding monster-or-item parts to it's own body.

Huh, that kinda reminds me of the Creeper from the Jeepers Creepers film series - a shapeshifter that steals organs from other people/creatures. That would actually be a really cool look for the Baldanders, seeing as they're both basically really weird-looking winged humanoids.
