The idea for this thread is to help each other find creatures like if I wanted some Lion monsters from mythology, people can help me by posting as many Lion-based creatures as they know about. Or if I wanted to find a creature from myths/legends that most closely resembles a horror icon (like Freddy Kruger or Pennywise) this would also be the perfect thread for that! I start here by asking everybody to come up with a good creature from myth/legend/folklore/cryptid that could resemble a Pond-Skater insect, it could also be some demonic creature that lacks any description so it could be safely used as anything you'd like. Any help is welcome, and if you need help with something, maybe I can help too.

From the following groups I could use more interesting creatures! If anybody knows some interesting ideas about new creatures that could fill out these groups please share!
HUMAN GROUP: I could use some awesome human monsters, they can't be just Warlocks or Gladiators, they must have an interesting ability, but still be human, like my examples below. Berserker / Berserker, War Seer / Berserker, Beast Master / Buckrider / Myrmidon / Myrmidon, Gladiator / Skinwalker / Vish Kanya / Vish Kanya, Priestess / Vish Kanya, Queen / Vish Kanya, Saapin
DWARF GROUP: Some interesting Dwarf additions with cool abilities would be welcome to my project! I'm very limited of what I like about dwarves, but maybe you guys can think some up! Dactyl / Dactyl, Ferromancer / Dactyl, Mechaniac / Eloko / Eloko, Trap Lord / Eloko, Shaman / Ohdowas / Ohdowas, Chemist
GIANT GROUP: The giants must be very different from each other, and very unique, most giants are just hill giants with a back story, but I don't like those. Antaeus / Antaeus, Crystal Goliath / Argus / Blemmyes / Cacus / Cyclops / Cyclops, War Crafter / Gegenees / Gegenees, War Dancer / Hraesvelgr / Hrimpursar / Jack-in-Irons / Kapre / Moai / Triton
DRACONIAN / DRAGONMAN: Some more half humanoids and half dragons would be welcome! Jimeng / Julana / Kampe / Lamia, Echidna
FAIRY / SPRITE: Some interesting faeries would be awesome! Carabosse / Danthienne / Ishigaq / Lunantishee / Tooth Fairy
ANGEL: Some more neutral and evil Angels would be very welcome! Erinyes / Erinyes, Keres / Erote, Anteros / Ishim / Nike / Valkyrie
SPIRIT / GHOST: Some non-humanoid ghosts would be welcome! Aatxe / Awahondo / Banshee / Banshee, Pesta / Berserker, Einherjar / Bloody Mary / Brollachan / Jokkho / Nishi / Nosoi / Nosoi, Blue Chest / Nosoi, Golden Chest / Poltergeist / Poltergeist, Dybbuk / Sessho-Seki / Tebwem / Waldgeist / Will o Wisp / Will o Wisp, Luz Mala / Wraith / Wraith, Sluagh
SEA SERPENT: Some more non-standard and bland Sea Serpents are needed! Cirein Croin / Haietlik / Ikuchi / Ikuchi, Bakunawa
Thanks in advance!

If I had a year, I couldn't list all of the interesting giants, dwarves, and fairies in world mythology that I'm aware of. I feel like you're just being picky. As for the water strider, I've honestly got nothing. All the water strider monsters in my setting are original.

I have a water insect-style creature in the form of the Gux from the mythology of the Native American Ahtna people, but it's more of just a general chitinous aquatic insect rather than specifically a pond skater. It's a pretty unique beastie though, so you might like it anyway.

Oh, nevermind, it was nothing, it was my tablet who made your pinterest page into a mess.
Btw, I found myself a candidate for a Water Strider-like monster, the strange Fearsome Critter Rhinelapus will do nicely, not as insect water-strider, but as alien water strider.

I have a couple of questions about some very particular creature wishes I have, maybe somebody here can help me.
I'm searching for an upgrade for my Buckrider/BokkenRijders, something like a willing demonic-possessed human from mythology? Humans that turned into demonic beings? (Not Cambion as I already use them) Does anybody know about demonic corrupted/possessed/gifted magic-users warlocks in mythology/folklore?
I'm searching for an upgrade for my Juggernaut, are there any other big famous warmachines in myths or legends? It is abyssal/hell related, but any big war-machine is good enough really.
Some evil plesiosaurus-like creature that could be some Styx swimming fiendish plesiosaurus? Anyone knows about a very vile plesiosaurus? I already have Morgawr, and I don't like nessie-like names: (monster from loch ness and such names)
Is there any magical helmet in mythology? It doesn't have to be an animated helmet, just a magical or famous helmet much like excalibur for example.
Are there eel-like mermen/mermaids in mythology? I'm searching for a eel-tailed mermaid sea witch.
Bone Golems in mythology? I want a bigger bone golem variant for my Tupilaq, and Gashadokuro isn't an option.
Evil Lion-centaurs, are there any? I'm not counting some creatures which are vaguely described as lion-centaurs.
Any help will be welcome!

for the helmets - hades helmet of invisibility and the tarnhelm from an 1800s stage version of the Siegfried vs Fafnir myth en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarnhelmfor evil plesiosaurs maybe - Mamlambo is a deity in South African and Zulu mythology, the "goddess of rivers",[1] described as a large snake-like creature.[citation needed] The myth of the Mamlambo became of interest to cryptozoologists in 1997, when South African newspapers (including Johannesburg's The Star and Cape Town's Cape Argus) reported on sightings of a "giant reptile" monster in the Mzintlava River near Mount Ayliff in South Africa. Villagers in the area claimed that the creature was 20 meters (67 feet) long, had the head of a horse, the lower body of a fish, short legs, and the neck of a snake, and that it shined with a green light at night. During the period between January and April 1997, as many as nine deaths had been attributed to the Mamlambo.[2] According to police, the victims had been in the water a while and had the soft parts of their heads and neck eaten by crabs; local villagers, on the other hand, claimed that these mutilations had been caused by the Mamlambo's habit of eating faces and brains. For this reason, the Mamlambo is often referred to as "the Brain Sucker" or The Inkanyamba is a legendary serpent said to be living in a waterfall lake area in the northern forests near Pietermaritzburg most commonly in the base of Howick Falls, South Africa. The Zulu tribes of the area believe it to be a large serpent with a horse like head. Most active in the summer months, it is believed that the Inkanyamba's anger causes the seasonal storms.[1] Cryptozoologists have suggested that it might be a form of eel, augmented by local myth.[citation needed] The Inkanyamba was featured on television series Animal X

Thanks! The helmets aren't really what I'm looking for, but it is a good start! Thanks anyway!
I already changed around with the evil plesiosaurs, now I use: Nahuelito (Argentinean) – Reptilian (Huge)(Neutral) Nahuelito, Ogopogo (N-American) – Reptilian (Huge)(Hostile) Nahuelito, Morgawr (English) – Fiend (Huge)(Hostile)
But you made me re-think of the Mamlambo, I now use it in a very different way, as alien aquatic creatures, allies of the Grey, just like the Chemosit/Nandi Bear they are brain-eating horrors.
The evil Lion-Centaur is also found in: Urmahlullu (Mesopotamian) – Beastman / Centauric (Large)(Neutral) Urmahlullu, Naqiq (Arabian) – Oni (Large)(Hostile)
I don't need the Siyokoy-merman sea witch anymore.
The others are still open for help!

Quirky uses the Krojemanchen, a bogey from Luxembourg, as a monster that can teleport between sources of water. This is his description of the creature for his project: Krojemanchen - Capable of emerging from (and attacking their victims through) any source of water, these horrific boogeymen are primarily found in the lakes and seas of Luxembourg, but are notoriously tenacious and will continue to stalk their victims until they have dragged them beneath the waves. They are armed with large, spear-like weapons which they can use to impale their victims after suddenly lunging out of water sources such as toilets or bathtubs.

I use the Knucker and Mhalla (my water drakes/dragons) as teleporting-though-water-sources creatures. I think they fit as they live in wells/knucker holes. I also have the Bauk/ Tailypo as shadow-teleport creatures, and the Stone Nymphs, Oread, can teleport from any rock source, the Ifrit can teleport from any source of fire. For the slimes, well they are extremely rare in the mythology world, most of my slimes are fakes (A Bao A Qu) or just made up slimes. For a lava/fire slime you could of course use Cherufe, if you are willing to turn it into a slime monster, D&D has lava oozes. My dark oozes are Orang Minyak and the Japanese ink-yokai. A Bao A Qu could be some type of air/wind ooze? Water ooze could be Ozaena and Globster, maybe Hinqumemen. Plant ooze? Jidra? Berberoka? Not sure. Earth Slimes, maybe the mud creature Dorotabo? Or Nurikabe, it is a white ooze in my project, which can harden itself into a stone-like substance, so it can become walls and blockades. If you want real ooze creatures, I don't think that is possible, no culture made up slime monsters, because there mostly wasn't a source to create those from.

Most of those slime ideas aren't going to work, at least not if you're concerned about mythological accuracy on any level above "I'm going to slap a mythological name onto something that doesn't really resemble it so that it can have the illusion of authenticity when really what I want to include is some kind of modern archetype that doesn't exist in a myth."
Honestly, trying to come up with mythical equivalents to all the modern fantasy monster archetypes is really the wrong way to go. Not to say that there aren't many valid reasons to alter a creature from mythology, but you're really trying to fit square pegs into round holes that way. It doesn't work, and really makes it seem like your use of mythical terms is just an aesthetic choice and you haven't done the proper research. Besides which, trying to make creatures like the Cherufe, Orang Minyak, and Berberoka into slimes is really far less interesting than their actual, mythological, selves. You're basically taking away everything that makes the creature cool and unique to trying to turn it into an archetype we've seen a million times.
I'm sorry, but this is just one of my major pet peeves when it comes to creature design.
