I'm an atheist - but am obviously very accepting of all religions in the world. Basically, I was watching some atheist Youtuber doing a video about debunking Young-Earth Creationist claims about the biblical Flood, and it got me thinking about what the Deluge would look like in L&O. As you know after having hopefully read my hefty creation myth, biological evolution takes place after the 'first draft' of life on Earth is wiped out by Yahweh's Flood. This is basically going to have been the deadliest natural disaster in all of the planet's history. In the Bible, it is said that it rained for forty days and this was enough to flood the planet. This is obviously ridiculous because there are countries with Monsoon Seasons which last longer than that, and the world has not been flooded as far as I know.
I've decided to be accurate to the lore as possible, but having literal rain be the cause of a global flood doesn't make sense in the pro-science and modern world of L&O. I then had an idea: what if the sky literally gave way to a vast amount of water? Imagine being stood underneath an enormous tap on full blast for forty days. All over the planet, the sky would literally open up and insane quantities of water would come surging down. Have a look at this map created by of the ancient Hebrew view of cosmology:
The 'Firmament' over the Earth is said to have water above it, which would imply that it was supposed to have opened during Noah's Flood to let this water fall as rain. But if there really was a vast quantity of water above the planet which poured down onto the world during the Flood - it would've hardly looked like rain. In L&O, Yahweh effectively covered the entire sky with a portal, letting an enormous amount of water pour down from out of it. This would have been totally catastrophic. People would've drowned where they stood, unable to escape from the insane torrent of water. Basically, L&O's Yahweh is an asshole, yes, but a spectacularly powerful asshole nonetheless.
