This is a work in progress, check back from time to time if you are interested at least, I'll update this post regularly until I'm satisfied with it. My project is called Mythika (well, the name is up for elimination and change, but until I have found a better name this silly name will be a stand-in)This is the list of creatures that are currently (it will change from time to time whenever I find new ideas and monsters) in Mythika. All these creatures you encounter in the world/game, the monsters will look a bit like the old monsters from Final Fantasy games and Lufia, but with far better graphics of course. - Hostile Encounters will always attack your characters/heroes, neutral creatures and friendly creatures on sight. The battle ends when you defeated all hostile creatures. - Neutral Encounters will sometimes attack you, sometimes attack the enemies and sometimes just do nothing until attacked, attacking them will result in gaining items and valuable stuff from them, so it is always smart to attack them if you can handle them. You need to attack the Neutrals (which aren't yet aggressive towards you) first, as if non-aggressive neutral monsters are all that remain on the battle-screen the battle will automatically end. - Friendly Encounters will always help your characters during the battle, though if you attack them (even with a mass-area-of-effect-spell) they will grow hostile towards you and also attack you. They not only attack the enemies for/with you, they will also give your team useful boosts, and cast healing abilities on your heroes. They also give you items if you keep them alive during the battle, if you attack them yourself you can also gain their items, though if enemies kill them you won’t gain the items they possess. - Bosses are unique enemies you will face when the time is right, they are hard to battle and will summon minions to the battlefield to guard/help them battle you, at least some of them do, others don’t need help and are powerful enough to battle your four characters alone. More info will be added in time. If anyone has ideas or thoughts, please let me know. Now for the monster list:The colors of the names of the creatures mean the following thing: Orange are the weakest creatures which you encounter early on in the game, and purple are the end-level enemies, which you encounter when the game comes to an end. Orange = Level 1 CreaturesGreen = Level 2 CreaturesBlue = Level 3 CreaturesRed = Level 4 CreaturesPurple = Level 5 Creatures
[Picture] = the pictures are NOT mine, and mostly you can easily find the real artist in the links... The monsters aren't 100% like on the pictures, they will all be different, but some pictures are a nice way to show you a little bit of what they will look like. Click on the word [picture] to view the pictures. I'm adding new pictures from time to time so check back from time to time to see new pics!NOTE: All these creatures come from Mythology, Folklore, Cryptid Sightings, Alien Sightings or from Literature. But I changed creatures around and turned them different to fit into my own project.Aatxe (Basque) – Spirit (Large)(Neutral) [Picture]Abaia (Melanesian) – Fish (Huge)(Neutral) [Picture] Abaia, My Imori is very different from the Myth though, I just need a upgrade for the Intulo, which was also a lizardman featuring a gecko-man, and Imori is perfect for that! They look like this in my project (they are human-sized, not tiny) And yes, they also ride around on Deinonychus/JP-Velociraptor like creatures. They are the warriors of the Intulo race, while Intulo themselves are rather shy and evasive, rather backstabbing their way to the top, the Imori are more combat-based.

Thanks! I only add pictures when I really think suit the creatures, but still the pictures are sometimes far from what I picture the creatures to be, but I can't draw them myself! :-( So the pictures are just to give a little impression on the creatures and what they are about to look like.

Some profiles of my creatures.
Aerico – Greek disease demons. In my Project: A monstrous animated virus living in the abyss (the place where demons come from) which clings onto non-demonic creatures and turn them into walking bacteria-zombies, they try to escape the abyss so they can cause serious disease outbreaks in other realms. They are very weak to healing and light magic though, and hosts of the disease which haven’t died yet can easily be saved by the most simple light/healing spells, but when the Aerico takes over a host fully it will be too late for healing and the Aerico takes over the host completely becoming a walking virus in an animated humanoid shell.
Aeshma – Persian demons of wrath. In my Project: Every Sinlord in my project has his/her own favorite demonic-minion, in the case of Alastor (and also his sister Nemesis), the Sinlords of Wrath and Anger, it is the Aeshma. The Aeshma are the most imposing and physical powerful of all the Sin demon minions, they look a lot like the Balrog from LOTR or the Balor from D&D, and behave pretty much like that, being enforcers of the sin wrath and anger, they spread anger and have very short tempers, they fight first and ask questions to the pieces of the victims which remain, thanks to their speak-to-the-dead ability, this is possible. These large fiery demons also wield magical weapons which will do more damage to creatures that already did some form of damage to them. When you are lucky enough to destroy an Aeshma, they will violently explode into a burst of abyssal fire, vengeance is a bitch.
Jimplicute – Mysterious, invisible reptilian horrors from Lumberjack stories. In my Project: Also known as Ghost Drakes or Spectral Drakes, these dangerous horrors combine the features of both dragons and chameleons. Most of the time invisible to all but the most observant eyes, these drakes enjoy the hunt more than the actual meal they gain from it. Shifting colors faster than the eye can see they stalk prey for hours before they finally strike with their long tongues, sharp fangs and claws. Jimplicute are related to the Reptilians known as Agemo, which are just oversized, human-eating Chameleons.
Citipati – The dancing skeletons from Tibetan myths. In my Project: Named after a long-dead deity, these dancing skeletons always appear in pairs, destroy one of the two and the other will go on a suicide mission and explode into a wild explosion of elemental energy and bone shards. Wherever the Citipati dance, nature and the elements will dance along with them, creating dangerous situations and natural disasters. Only the most powerful Necromancers and undead creatures can actually command these dancing horrors, they mostly just dance and turn nature insane for unknown reasons, pity those who come across them near a volcano. They are related to the Ahkiyyini.
Hua-Hu-Tiao – Evil, winged white elephant horrors from Chinese myths. In my Project:Hua-Hu-Tiao are formed when Oni Spirits (demonic spirits which enter and corrupt other beings) corrupt the otherwise gentle and holy white elephants Airavata. The white color is all that remains of an Airavata, once the Oni takes its shelter there. For some unknown reason the Oni’s presence sprouts angelic-looking white wings from the Airavata’s body, they can’t fly though and grows two extra trunks. Hua-Hu-Tiao often serve as mounts for powerful evil characters such as demons, Sinlords, undead or other more humanoid Oni’s such as Rakshasa.
Ajatar – The mother of serpents and devils from Finnish Myths. In my Project: These Mothers of all Demons as they like to call themselves look much like a Lamia with wyvern-like wings on their back and smaller bat-wings on their snake-like lower-bodies. The most dangerous feature of the Ajatar is her poison, which will transform any humanoid into a demon, which then views the Ajatar as its mother, queen or even goddess, doing anything for the Ajatar which re-created it. Ajatar are often followed around by many transformed demonic minions, serpents of all types and even true demons which enjoy torturing victims of the Ajatars poison during their painful transformation into a demon.
Marakihau – Australian Merfolk with bizarre alien tongues. In my Project: An aquatic variant of the disgusting Akaname, the Marakihau is just as cowardly as it’s land-based kin, mostly using their extremely long tongue from a safe distance to scrap for bits of flesh that more powerful predators such as Adaro or Akheilos leave behind. Unlike the Akaname, the Marakihau’s tongue ends in a strange maw-like thing much like those of the Prehistoric Opabinia, they use this second maw to rip away flesh so fast that most creatures don’t even realize they are being fed on. Marakihau mostly live near shipwrecks or in coastal reefs, sometimes even using their tongue to attack land-based creatures which come near the water, and while Marakihau can breathe both in water and on land, they are very clumsy and slow while moving on land, only doing so if they try to evade an angry aquatic predator from which they stole some food.
Akashita – Mysterious cloud beasts from Japanese yokai-stories. In my Project:These rare abyssal fiends (fiends are animalistic demonic creatures that spawn in the abyss in my project) can walk on air/clouds and are mostly found hiding within those. They stalk their prey from the clouds and haunt them with their growls, bizarre tongues and gleaming eyes. Not much people have seen the true form of an Akashita as they are mostly partly covered in the clouds which they love, but they seem to appear very hairy, black and big mouthed monsters which don’t resemble any known animals from earth. Akashita have the ability to create clouds, and they also have the feather-fall ability, which makes it impossible for an Akashita to fall to its death, as they can become as light as a feather at will.
Yagim – Obscure shark creatures from Native American stories. In my Project:Appearing much like the prehistoric Helicoprion-Sharks, these bizarre mouthed sharks have deep red paintings around the heads like they are forever covered in the blood of their victims, they are among the favorite allies/pets of the Adaro. These non-intelligent aquatic predators have inspired many land-dwelling folks to create masks and souvenir-like small totems from them.
Rogo-Tumu-Here – Octopus demons from Tuamotu myths. In my Project: They are just called Rogo-Tumu in my project, they kinda resemble the Morkoth from D&D. They were once Akkoramokui which were corrupted and possessed by Oni spirits, turning the giant octopus monsters into even more horrifying creatures, even growing monstrous fish-like heads and arms. Rogo-Tumu haunt the deep ocean floors and coral labyrinths, feeding on all creatures which get lost in those endless reefs, their ink is highly toxic and acidic.
Xtabay – The Mayan goddess of traps and luring. In my Project: Named after the Goddess of traps and lures, the Xtabay are bizarre plant creatures which resemble oversized Venus Flytraps which grow a beautiful human-looking woman from their single seed, this beautiful woman clone will lure naïve humanoids into the snapping maw of their flytrap parent. Xtabay are related to the similar Alraune, but instead of drinking only the blood of their victims the Xtabay dissolve the entire body of their victims with powerful acid. The Goddess of traps loves her Xtabay namesakes and gave them the ability to release a very sweet calming aroma which calms even the minds of the most powerful scholars.
Alû – Smothering and nightmare-inducing demons from Sumerian legends. In my Project: These nocturnal demons live from the breath of other (mostly sleeping) creatures. They attack creatures during their sleep, inducing their minds with nightmares while feeding off their breath. With the bizarre skin underneath their arms, they cover the sleeping victims and slowly choke them to death, all while feeding on their last breath. Alû and Incubi hate each other and are a big competition of each other.
Amarum – Very magical snakes from Ecuador. In my Project: Sometimes when a powerful, evil magic-user dies he/she will bond it’s dying soul onto the corpse of a giant serpent, animating the death serpent with its magical energy, this creates an Amarum. Amarum feed on magic-using creatures, swallowing them whole and slowly draining them of all the magic-energy they possess, then they regurgitate the corpse of the sorcerer as an undead minion, mostly a zombie, but some creatures call these undead Wekufe. With the magical energy, these undead serpents absorb they can work their own magic, shooting beams of pure magical energy at their enemies, killing an Amarum will release all their magical energy and the souls of the magic-casters they have absorbed into one big magical explosion.
Andrealphus – A Marquis from hell from Ars Goetia, resembling a humanoid peacock. In my Project: Like the Aeshma are the favorite minions of the Sinlord of Wrath, the peacock-like Andrealphus are the favorite demon minions of Narcissus, the Sinlord of Pride. They resemble humanoid peacocks, both stunningly beautiful and hauntingly disturbing, they inspire selfish and narcissist feelings into their victims, turning even the most powerful of mind thinking about nothing but themselves, so instead of healing/blessing an entire group, an infected healer will only heal itself during a battle, this is very tricky for the team.
Aoandon – A blue lantern ghost from Japanese yokai stories. In my Project: In my project, the Aoandon is a Tsukumogami, a self-animated object, in the case of the Aoandon this is a Blue Paper Lamp or Andon. While the Aoandon isn’t mobile like most other Tsukumogami, it doesn’t have to be, it attracts and controls undead spirits from far and wide to do its unholy biddings. The Aoandon will summon new random spirit-based creatures onto the battlefield until destroyed, it doesn’t have any physical attacks of its own, it just summons one random spirit (may it be a Poltergeist, BuruBuru or Aatxe) each round, the spirits do most of the work for it. Aoandons are very popular pets/familiars for Necromancers and powerful undead like Fexts for this reason as they beckon to spirit creatures from afar so the undead can use the spectral horrors in their armies/plots.
Apep – A gigantic cobra/snake from Egyptian mythology. In my Project: Named after a long-dead serpent deity of destruction, these enormous demonic cobras live in the Abyss and are among the most powerful of the fiends/beast-like demons. Their poison will burn a victim from the inside out. Apep thrive when they destroy lives or objects and love to see their victims burn into ashes, they are most common in the burning forests of the abyss, but some Apep escaped the abyss and terrorize earth, mostly from the underground or living near hot places such as volcanoes.
Aproxis – A magical plant with flammable roots from M-European bestiaries. In my Project: Very different from the real myth, the Aproxis in my own project are intelligent, monstrous Orchid-like flowers which kill their prey with their burning abilities and then feed on the ash which their victims leave behind. Aproxis grow mostly in the burning forests around the abyss, but some of their seeds spread through the realms and into portals towards earth. Many black-market people hunt for Aproxis as their magical roots are often used in the creation of powerful fire-spell staffs.
Andurá – A Brazilian tree creature which bursts into flames every night. In my Project: Related to the Aproxis, these evil abyssal trees are forever caught in flames, though they can temporarily extinguish their flames to fool prey into touching or even climbing them, then burn them alive by instantly igniting themselves again, most Andurá grow in the burning forest on the abyss, but some move into portals to earth where they can cause serious forest fires and death counts. Unlike most tree monsters from my project the Andurá doesn’t have any visible maw or eyes in its trunk, they mostly feed on ash like their much smaller relatives the Aproxis.
Argolito – A alien-like creature from Native American tales which travel through the sky like meteors. In my Project: Flying through space and the air like a humanoid meteorite the bizarre aliens called Argolito come from the same planet as the Grey Aliens, but are their mortal enemies. Some say Argolito are to blame for the Greys invasion on earth, while others claim these fire aliens followed the Grey towards earth to destroy them. Argolito love competition and combat with powerful creatures, they challenge strong monsters and humanoids into deadly combat, and if they win they take trophies from their kills. Argolito aren’t evil, but they are very hostile towards almost any form of life, viewing everything as a competition. They can fly through space like a living meteor, crashing into the earth and doing lots of damage against everything that stands close to the impact, but doing little damage to themselves. During battles in my RPG they randomly clash onto the battlefield, doing both damage to enemies and to your own team of adventurers at random, then fight random targets, may it be one of your heroes or one of the enemies.
Gastarios – Half scorpion and half fish, from medieval bestiaries. In my Project: These resemble oversized Eurypterids or sea scorpions, they behave pretty much like ordinary Eurypterids but are bigger. They mostly hunt on coastal grounds but also haunt reefs and coastal villages, seeking easy land-going prey.
Astwihad – A Persian demon which captures his prey with ropes and drags them into hell. In my Project: This mask-wearing colorful bogey-horror can animate ropes into snake-like minions, Astwihad are extremely cruel and love capturing victims for their masters which are often Sinlords or evil Fae Lords. The ropes they animate fly and bind around the legs of running victims and drag them towards the cruelly laughing Astwihad who then sends more animated ropes to bind the creature even further, dragging them into the darkness or into portals which they open with their magical stones. Sometimes the Astwihad may finish off their victims, this they do by hanging them with their animated ropes, as they are cruel bogeys who feed on fear, they often keep those dead victims around them with their animated ropes, so they are surrounded by decomposing corpses of hanged victims who hover or drag behind them, still attached to the ropes which slowly killed them.
Aten – A deity in Egyptian mythology, much like a living sun. In my Project: Aten are arrogant, (though not evil) light elementals who think they are major deities, though they are many in number, each Aten thinks he’s the only Aten on earth, they totally ignore each other when two Aten meet. Every Aten loves being worshiped by “minor” creatures, and even dragons are minor to them, creatures that don’t give them the respect they think they deserve are attacked or burned by their solar-like bodies. Aten can control solar energy and light and form it into any form they desire, often creating multiple hands from them to control objects or to attack their enemies or “unfaithful” minions with. Normally they look like miniature suns, it is very hard to directly look at them without being seriously being blinded, Aten themselves take that as a sign they are too supreme to even look upon.
Aun Pana – Brazilian fish horrors with arms which can crawl onto shores. In my Project: Bizarre mixes of Piranha and Arapaima, these fish horrors are in possession of lungs and arms, so they can breathe and move in both water and on land. Aun Pana collect magical items and go to great lengths to gain such, surprising drinking mages by lunging themselves from the water with their maws fully open. Aun Pana’s bites drain magic abilities from spell-casting creatures, which temporary lose the ability to cast spells after being bitten by the Aun Pana. These monstrous fish are the size of a full grown human male and have piranha-like teeth and heads.
Indombe – A metallic snake burning with fire from African tales. In my Project: A snake-like automaton, Indombe are named after a long-dead/forgotten deity and they appear as giant bronze serpents which bodies burn hot with inner fire. Indombe are often used by cruel creatures as mobile torture/execution devices, swallowing enemies of their masters and slowly burning them inside. Some Indombe have burned so many victims their bodies are full of the ashes, they can spit out these hot cinders at their enemies, blinding and burning them.
Celedon – Golden women-statues from Greek Mythology. In my Project: Only the very rich can afford to create a Celedon, these automatons look like female angels totally made from gold and precious gemstones. Celedon serve many roles for their rich masters, they can serve as beautiful decoration, as guardians, and for amusement, as they can sing beautifully like the muse-angels they resemble. Most rich creatures that possess a Celedon also use them in battle, their voices can charm enemies and their wings are razor sharp, they are also good healers and can put useful boons on their masters.
Minokawa – Giant metallic dragons/birds from Philippine mythology. In my Project: One of the more fearsome automatons, only being succeeded by the even bigger Talos, the Minokawa appears to be a giant metallic dragon. Only the most powerful can control them and most Minokawa are used as mounts, guardians of precious treasures or for wars. While the Minokawa’s aren’t living creatures they behave and act like most living dragons do, for this reason, it is believed the soul of a true dragon is used to animate them.
Okiku-Mushi – Japanese story about suicide and caterpillars. In my Project: Related to the fey caterpillars known as Awd Goggie, these giant lilac colored caterpillars are said to be created when a broken-hearted female fae commits suicide, their corpse will turn into a silk-like cocoon and from this cocoon, an Okiku-Mushi will appear a few hours later. These abominable insect fey still have female-like faces, and their backs are covered in giant horns and spider-like silk, inside these webs, are countless small creatures such as squirrels, birds, and bats which found their doom while flying into these silky webs. There are also humanoid corpses between the horns, which are the victims of the Okiku-Mushi’s poison. An Okiku’s poison will drain away any happiness inside their victim, leaving a depressing husk which mostly turns to suicide. Okiku-Mushi collect the bodies of those they forced to commit suicide and collect them inside the webs/silk on their bodies.

do you have a link to a source for Aristotiles? I actually gave them a wrong name, it was Aristotiles who probably named them or described them, their name is Gastarios (much better name) Here is a link: www.godecookery.com/ffissh/ffissh07.htm

Added / Changed a lot of things today in my project:
1: I've added the Aije (giant Tadpole creature) to my project as a juvenile version to the Tiddalik, already huge as tadpoles the ravenous Aije are born to devour, it takes a couple of years for a Aije to grow into a Tiddalik.
2: I've added the Ouroboros to my project, but these creatures are only named after the symbol of infinite, they are relatives of the dual-headed Amphisbaena, and like their much smaller relatives they have a head on each end of their snake-bodies. Ouroboros are half black and half white, and the poison of their white head adds positive energy damage (which can be deadly in great amounts) and the black head adds negative energy damage. The two heads of the Ouroboros Drake fight endlessly together, but can never kill itself, they are only distracted when another creature enters their space, then the two heads work together to bring it down, after which they fight over which head gets to swallow the killed creature. Ouroboros are like Yin and Yang.
3: Added Banaspati again, for the trillion time... Hopefully the flaming, flying skull monster is here to stay for good now. They feed on fear but aren't bogey's, they are undead made from bogey's skulls. They have limited control over fire and can breath fire at their prey, but mostly want to scare them first to feed on the fear their prey releases.
4: Cipactli is now also a enemy in the game, not only a boss. They are like frilled crocodile-men with mouths on many places on their bodies. Avatars of gluttony they mostly eat or serve the Sinlord of Gluttony.
5: Eloko gained a new family-member in the Mmoatia. Mmoatia in my project are magical Eloko which stand on each others shoulders and always form a living totem-pole of three. One white, which is on the bottom and the most powerful in strength, then one black, which is ontop of the white, this black one uses a blowgun, and on top is a red Mmoatia which hold voodoo magic. They act much like the Fetish from Diablo, the shaman Fetish.
6: Goblin gained a new family-member in Kallikantzaros. These nature-hating goblins always work in pairs to bring down anything natural, they hate plant creatures most. They appear as two goat-legged goblins which both hold a saw-like instrument together, they love to run at enemies with the saw-weapon between the two of them and cutting off their legs or worse. They always work to destroy plants and nature, and hate happiness and parties.
7: Green Knight joined the party as well! These are human knights dressed in plants and green magical armor, riding on plant-covered green-haired horses. They are normal humans blessed with magical powers over nature and plants. They patrol forests and other green places in search of natural-violation which they punish with violence. They are neutral creatures and don't care about good or evil, everything that invades their green will be questioned or attacked.
8: Hydra gained a new family-member in the awesome Nyuvwira! One of my favorite creatures now, the Nyuvwira is a bluish, 8 headed hydra with lightning bites and breath and the amazing power to control gravity. They are a menace to flying creatures which they can force to the ground while blocking their flying abilities.
9: Layqa is a new hag in my project, closely based on the candy-house hag from Hansel & Gretel. Layqa love to poison food or enthrall their victims with magical candy. They are dressed in all types of sweet food and their abilities are all based around food. Like the hag, they live in a house made of food and candy.
10: I switched Korrigan to the Leprechaun family, giving Leshy another bearded ally in the Woodwose. Korrigans now are brown-wearing Leprechaun which magical sweat induces wild dancing and a insane love for plants and nature. Korrigans are crazy creatures, reveling in wild, insane parties and dances.
11: The Leshy now lost the Korrigan but gained the Woodwose, Woodwoses are evil Leshy which also protect plant life in a more macabre style. They walk around on their very long vine-like beards, which makes them appear much bigger than they are actually are. They can control plant-life and summon plant allies on the battlefield.
12: The Metee-Kolen are humans with ice-based abilities and spells. Living too long in the cold macabre temperatures has turned these wizards into cruel and insane haters of their former race. They mostly work for the Snow Queen.
13: I've switched the Qiuniu drake around, they are now looking like the D&D Faerie Dragon, half insect and half dragons they naturally joined the Pyrausta group, these playful, but mischievous creatures love music and use musical abilities to bring down prey and enemies. They can be tamed and befriended with musical spells and abilities.
14: Satori gained a new and vile Oni variant in the Amanojaku, these black monkey-like horrors can see into the most darkest desires of their victims using their telepathy ability, and mostly turn the lives of their victims to misery with those very same dark desires. While most Oni are very vile and cruel, the Amanojaku takes cruelty to a new level.
15: Stoa, which are brazilian Carnotaurus-like Cryptids, are now in my project. In my project they appear to be monstrous alien-like carnotaurus creatures without any arms, making them appear very freaky and awkward at the same time. They are creations and hunting-pets of the Grey Aliens. Their horns are much bigger then those of the real carnotaurus.
16: I've updated the water elemental family line, they are now: Undine, Shudala Madan, Umibozu and Hinqumemen, each one being bigger and more powerful than the last. I'm thinking of adding the blood elemental Polong to this family as well, but for now I didn't.
17: Added the vile Windsbraut to my project. They are more evil and more serious versions of the Veela, evil Wind Nymphs. Their wind abilities are much more advanced than those of the playful veela, their lower-bodies are often hiding within a whirlwind or tornado. Windsbraut also have lots of sharp objects and weapons flying around in their whirlwinds, so they do extra damage to their enemies and victims.
18: Cueyatl are now part of the frog-folk/Vodyanoi family, they are smaller than the other vodyanoi, but they are very poisonous, much like poisonarrow-frog-men.
I've also gave a lot of creatures artwork, Piasa and velue are only some of them.

Today I've cut through my monster list like a knife through butter. Many sacrifices and cuts were made in my list. I'm gonna post all the cut creatures here so I can add them to my MAYBE-CREATURE list later. The Alu, Serra, Yuxa, Acheri, Mu-Onna, Nachtkrapp, Ninki Nanka, Siren, Sak and En Mico all have a big chance to reappear again in some way, though much different than before, the others have not much chance to appear again. Hyakume, I probably add it again when I read though my Pathfinder bestiary 4, I always want to add Hyakume again when I read through that book... Grootslang had it's chance like 10.000 times, now I cut it for good, I keep getting bored with it. AND YES, I was foolish AGAIN by looking on google-picturs for Grootslangs, then I found this Grootslang art which again gave me inspiration to add it YET again... The biggest problem I have with Grootslang is it's Dutch name, which sound VERY stupid for me combining it with all these foreign names, as I'm dutch myself the name sounds really off and comical... Grootslang means Big Snake in dutch, but it is a very awkward word for some reasons I better leave unsaid. Look, Osschaart and Kludde are also dutch creatures, but at least their names don't mean a thing, they are more Belgian words, I have the same problem as Grootslang with the Bokkenrijders (which I give a english name, buckriders) and with Deogen (which I don't use because it's name is horrible) Abaia, Inkanyamba (African) – Fish (Huge)(Hostile) Adaro, Ngorieru (Solomon Island) – Beastman / Centauric (Large)(Hostile) Ahkiyyini, Citipati (Tibetan) – Undead (Large)(Hostile) Akheilos, Yagim (N-American) – Fish (Huge)(Hostile) Alû (Sumerian) – Demon (Medium)(Hostile) Amadan (Irish) – Fae (Small)(Hostile) Amarum (Ecuador) – Undead (Huge)(Hostile) Ame-Onna (Japanese) – Fae / Vampire (Medium)(Hostile) Amikiri (Japanese) – Aberration (Large)(Hostile) Bitoso (Romanian) – Aberration / Parasite (Medium)(Hostile) Burach Bhadi, Alukah (Israel) – Aberration / Parasite / Vampire (Small)(Hostile) Cyclops, Bungisngis (Philippine) – Titan (Colossal)(Hostile) Doppelganger, Fetch (Irish) – Alien / Shifter (Medium)(Hostile) Drekavac, Acheri (Hindu) – Undead (Small)(Hostile)

A couple more new/updated creatures from my lists and some small descriptions.
Acheri (Hindu) – I use these Hindu creatures as faeries which bring and spread plagues and other diseases, they have the special ability to enhance any disease, making creatures even more sick when they are around.
Buruburu (Japanese) – You only encounter Buruburu ghosts when you flee from a battle. These spirits of cowardice will hunt down any creature which behaves cowardly.
Cerastes, Sierpa (N-American) – Bigger, more poisonous variants of the Cerastes, these desert horrors resemble giant rattlesnakes which rattle will cause exhaustion and which poison will cause extreme thirst in its victims, the thirst can become so bad that a victim will drink Its own blood out of pure desperation.
Codrille, Taniniver (Israel) – When a Codrille dies it will automatically raise as a terrible undead dragon, the vile diseases inside a Codrille will cause the corpse to auto-resurrect. Taniniver are the favorite aerial mounts of powerful undead and they are also wanted by the Horseman of Pestilence.
Dodomeki (Japanese) – Cursed human thieves, these mostly female creatures have arms which are covered in eyes, both a curse and a blessing the eyes serve the sneaky nature of the Dodomeki right as they gain all-around vision. Dodomeki are still humans, but they have better reflexes, can move silently and have eyes growing randomly around their bodies. Some think that they gain one eye for each item they steal, but this isn’t known as a fact.
Gegenees, Futsunushi (Japanese) – When an Oni spirit enters and corrupts a Gegenees, the result will be a Futsunushi. These resemble six armed giants with demonic features, and unlike the normal Gegenees which mostly use their fists in combat, the Futsunushi uses exotic and magical weapons. They dance into combat, being able to dance around the battlefield as a force of destruction. They have the magical ability to enhance any weapon they touch, giving them magical properties. Their aura’s will also empower melee attacks of other allied monsters.
Gu (Chinese) – Bizarre elementals, Gu are poison/venom/toxic elementals created from the poison of many types of creatures. They are very hard to kill as they will poison everything that touches them and they are made from only liquid poison and venom. They are not very intelligent though and are mostly controlled by the creatures that created them, mostly Vish Kanya.
Hannya (Japanese) – Animated Masks which want to find a suitable host so they can take over their lives. Hannya are very envious and vain though, and often attack other pretty humans/humanoids with their new found bodies. In the game you have to defeat a Hannya twice, you first have to beat the corrupted human body, then the mask which tries to possess your party members.
Hannya, Menreiki (Japanese) – A swarm of animated masks which all resemble some type of expression/emotion, these swarms want to be worn by humanoids or monsters so they can “bless” these hosts with their given emotion. This can be good or bad, but it is mostly bad as the masks don’t take no for an answer. They mostly want to create a theater-play with their hosts. I’m not really sure yet how this plays out in the game itself.
Harpy, Lechuza (Mexican) – I changed Lechuza around, now they are owl-like harpies which can transform into the form of ugly (feather-wearing) old crones or into giant owls. Lechuza are the hags of avians/birds, they can summon all types of avian-beasts to serve them and also enhance the abilities of the avians so they become more powerful. They can also use the spell silence.
Hongaek, Bisha Ga Tsuku (Japanese) – Bisha Ga Tsuku are now mist and ice elementals. They are mist creatures which capture victims in their cold foggy bodies and freeze their victims to death, after this they devour their souls. The souls of their victims can be seen inside the cold mist, trying to get out.
Jba Fofi, Pasuk (African) – Small, magical spiders which often serve magic-users as familiars. They spit poisonous, sticky silk-balls at their victims and can cast various spells.
Krojemanchen (Luxemburg) – These bizarre water bogey’s can teleport though any source of water, appearing from wells, lakes, streams, the sea or inside somebody’s bathtub. They appear as green-skinned old men with dirty beards made from sea-plants.
Kurage Hinotama, Sandewan (African) – These brightly colored red jellyfish horrors hover over land. They drain all the blood of their victims or from corpses. Often, too much blood is drained from a victim and then the Sandewan leaves a trail of blood behind it which other carnivorous creatures will follow until they become the next victim of the bloody jellyfish.
Malebete (French) – Magical fey bears which mostly hunt for other fey-creatures, they hate beauty and are probably created/corrupted by hags which often share this hate. Malebete can turn into a statue-form and drain beauty/charisma around them. In the game these horrid bears will do extra damage to most fey-creatures, nymphs and gnomes, but they will do less damage to hags, bogey’s and trolls, though those are also fey.
Marmajor (Spanish) – These are horrifying, large and evil bogey’s which use the corpses of humanoids (mostly children) as marionette-like puppets to lure new victims into their claws. Their backs are full of corpses and puppets, and they use the sinews of their victims as strings. Even other evil creatures evade these monstrosities.
Motelo Mama, Usilosimapundu (African) – The biggest creature in the game, Usilosimapundu are gigantic tortoise-like creatures made mostly from the earth itself. They can lay dormant for centuries before some earthquake or disturbance wakes them from their slumber and they go on a rampage. Some scholars call these beings living natural disasters.
Musimon, Wether (M-European) – The giant ram-creatures called Musimon are very attractive for a parasitic worm called Furia. Furia will animate the corpses of Musimon after they are killed or when they die into undead monstrosities, these new born undead rams are called Wether. While from a distance the Wether looks like a normal Musimon, from close range you spot its undead nature and the Furia-worms which seems to crawl from the huge wounds in its head. Wether are very violent and aggressive creatures, attacking anything in sight spare for other undead, for which they often serve as mounts or living battering rams.
Nishi (Bengali) – These bizarre sound elementals are invisible, they are creatures created from nothing but sound and melodies. Very hard to destroy, the Nishi can become any sound they heard and also control their own volumes. A Nishi is born from the final screech of a dying person. Nishi’s work much like Will o Wisps, but instead of light they use sounds to lure victims into dangerous area’s or situations from which they can’t easily escape.
Oread, Orco Mamman (Argentinean) – Beautiful, golden haired nymphs which silvery skins glitter in the sun’s rays. Orco Mamman are the elemental nymphs of metals, they even have weak magnetic abilities to help them in combat. Orco Mamman are friendly with most dragon species and are often found guarding or hoarding a dragons treasures. I’m going a bit for the model of Grendels Mother in the Beowulf animated movie, played by Angelina Jolie.
Osakoburi (Japanese) – Still animated Helmets in my project, but they no long possess their victims, instead they want to be worn by other creatures to give the creatures boosts in strength, creatures that wear an Osakoburi become much more powerful.
Phoenix, Hakuturi (Australian) – These green phoenix variants can re-grow plants and speed up the growth of plants and nature. Where Hakuturi live the forests are full of plants with almost no paths. Cutting down plants will infuriate a Hakuturi and after they re-grow their plants they will attack the one responsible. When killed the Hakuturi will reincarnate into a small patch of forest, seeds will grow in this newly grown forest from which new Hakuturi spawn.
Poltergeist, Isogashi (Japanese) – Bizarre, hyperactive spirits which will possess the bodies of random creatures and make them work till they die. Isogashi in my project can possess both enemies and your own heroes. The speed of a possessed victim is increased, but every time a possessed creature attacks they will be exhausted and gain damage, so the blessing eventually becomes a curse. Isogashi are the spirits from people who died during work or with many tasks left unfinished, they are related to the Poltergeist.
Sakabashira (Japanese) – One of the most bizarre Tsukumogami. Sakabashira appear as obelisks or pillars with a single upside-down stone head on it. They are created when a magic-user dies next to a obelisk, and his/her spirit will corrupt the obelisk. These creatures have many bizarre abilities, like electric aura’s, chain lightings and the ability to attract spirits to its location and turn spirits temporary corporeal so they can attack victims physically for as long as they are next to the Sakabashira.
Shadhawar, Amdusias (Demonology) – Very beautiful and magical unicorns related to the much smaller Shadhawars. Amdusias are named after a Demon Lord, but they look very differently. Amdusias use their magical horns to control the sounds around them, turning them louder or making them disappear into nothing, they have many bizarre powers over sound. Their aura’s also create random sounds, making it very hard for other creatures to be around them for long. Amdusias are fiendish Unicorns which mostly reside in the Abyss.
Skinwalker, Nanaue (N-American) – These are much like other skinwalkers, but instead of wearing an animal-pelt they have a sharks-maw on their backs. They automatically transform into the forms of sharks when they submerge in water.
Sphinx, Lammasu (Sumerian) – While many people would think of the Lammasu as holy, kind beings, the truth is somewhat more complicated. Lammasu adore, serve and worship mostly themselves and view themselves as god-like beings. They rarely attack first and are very friendly towards creatures which give them offerings and which pray to them, but they are extremely hostile towards beings which don’t treat them with the respect they think they deserve. Lammasu talk mostly about themselves and their many deeds, this often gets annoying pretty fast for folks which aren’t interested in serving them. Lammasu appear as male sphinxes and their hair is always worn in impossible complicated styles.
Squonk (Fearsome Critter) – Created from the tears of creatures with loads of self pity, these bizarre water elementals are literally drowning themselves in sadness and self pity. Like the Raiju these elementals can take solid forms, in the case of the Squonk however this is a very ugly form, combining the parts of mostly very ugly creatures such as pigs, they are always found crying over something. While not hostile, they can be very annoying and often drag other creatures into their world of sadness and pity.
Tamanous (N-American) – Human cannibals which feed on the flesh of extremely evil individuals may be cursed into the forms of a Tamanous. They appear mostly human, but their blood is much like tar, they can spit black tar at their victims and enemies, and they leak tar from their feet, leaving tarry footprints. Their sweat is also like this sticky tarry substance, they use this to create cocoons around their victims so they can’t easily escape.
Tanuki, Azeban (N-American) – Related to the Tanuki, these small humanoid raccoons love to steal things from their victims and then sell it again to others. When you beat a Azeban in combat they will open their shops for you (on the battlefield) and offer you their wares. You can choose to buy something from them or to kill them, you won’t get their wares for free when you kill them though...
Terra-Cotta, Dogu (Japanese) – Small clay statues, these function as bad-status-effect magnets, if you want to curse, or lower the stats of enemies and there is a Dogu on the battle-screen, they will absorb all the nasty effects (not poison though) into themselves, keeping all other monsters immune to such stat-lowering effects until the Dogu is destroyed. When destroyed the Dogu will release random stat-lowering effects onto your heroes.
Tiyanak, Myling (Finnish) – Undead tots, who at first don’t appear to be undead, until they trick you into piggyback games, then they will crush their victims by increasing their own gravity. Mylings have the power to increase or decrease their own gravity, turning extremely heavy or very light so they can float.
Uay-Cot (Mayan) – Bizarre bogey’s which live inside the walls of old houses, castles or other buildings and which pull their victims into the walls so they can feed on them. Very little information is known about them and they should be avoided at all cost.
Urcututo (Peru) – Large magical owls which mostly serve as familiars to Lechuza or other magic-using creatures. They enhance the magical abilities of their masters.
Urcututo, Penchapechi (Bengali) – Giant owl monsters which can become incorporeal at will, shifting between their fleshy forms and their ghostly form at a wimp. They are masters in hunting and stalking, ignoring any obstacle in their ways and becoming corporeal when they are behind their prey. They can also turn the victims/allies they hold in their claws incorporeal and tear out souls/spirits from their victims.
Ushabti (Egyptian) – Often found near tombs and graves, these protective stony golems are often decorated like the pharaohs or important people which corpse they protect. Like a iron maiden they can open up their stony bodies and crush a victim to pulp.
Yamabiko (Japanese) – While these creatures look cute and innocent they have powerful magical abilities over sound. Yamabiko can copy any sound-based abilities and magic used against it and then use it against their enemies. They are the embodiment of echo.
Yamabiko, Mimick (M-European) – Related to the Yamabiko, but instead of sound the Mimick copies the physical abilities of their enemies and use their own abilities against them.
Yeti, Yowie (Australian) – Very feral relatives of the Yeti, the yowie is covered in wild, stinky red hairs. They are humanoid marsupials and they carry their young inside special pouches located on their bellies. Yowie are born aggressive and attack victims with stones or sticks from the safely of their parents pouch. These creatures also have an awful stench hanging around them, which will sicken most creatures that smell it.
Yeti, Genderuwo (Indonesian) – Another species of Yeti/Sasquatch, the Genderuwo are extremely big (think King Kong) and powerful. They keep humans as toys and often don’t even realize their toys are actually living things which have feelings and pain. When they are done playing or when they accidently kill their “toys” they often eat them or throw them away for scavengers to devour.
Zlatorog, Bocanach (Irish) – While most Zlatorog are calm and neutral creatures, the Bocanach is always evil. These black mountain goats have huge silver horns, hooves and tails and around their necks they have magical lanterns in which they harvest the souls of their victims. Bocanach often appear on battlefields, collecting the souls of the dying, they are attracted to misery, war and death. Like their Zlatorog cousins, the Bocanachs blood will spawn flowers, in the case of the Bocanach though, this blood will spawn poisonous purple flowers which cause hatred and anger into anyone which smells them.
Zmey, Azi Dahaka (Persian) – Related to the Zmey, but instead of being based on the 7 sins, the Azi Dahaka are more based on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, each of their three heads old their own apocalypse, one of their heads is about war, one of death and one of famine. Their blood will spawn diseased vermin and when you are finally being able to bring down a Azi Dahaka their corpse will spawn swarms of stinging, biting and crawling bugs and insects. Azi Dahaka serve ALL Horsemen of the Apocalypse equally, they are among their favorite minions.
Zombie, Gaki (Japanese) – Spawn from very greedy and gluttonous people, the Gaki are cursed into undead forms, looking horrifying and pathetic at the same time, yet being very much feared by most other creatures for their appetites. When there isn’t prey available the Gaki feeds on dirt, earth or even stones. Gaki can’t touch treasures and when they do they will burn themselves with horrid pain. Their bloated bellies often explode, but then magically repair themselves again only to explode when they are full again.
Zombie, Lagahoo (Caribbean) – A strange zombie variant with a giant magical coffin on its back from which all kinds of arms try to escape. These zombies summon other undead from their coffins, which only stops when they are destroyed.
Zombie, Legion (Demonology) – A very dangerous form of zombie, the Legion is a living army of zombies, all crawling onto and over each other so they look like they are a single being. While they are created from an entire army of corpses they all share one hive mind. When they talk it is very disturbing, as every corpse that makes up its form talks at the same time, becoming a choir of voices.
