Yeah, you should! It's a unique background for a creature - and the backstories of modern hoax tulpas are always amusing to look into anyway. If you wanted a modern cynocephale, then perhaps you could use the Dogman cryptid or the Wolfen of modern fiction? The name 'Wolfen' comes up a lot in the paranormal community to refer to sentient wolf-like creatures, so it's a fairly good fit.

That's why my project doesn't have a normal Troll or normal Oni, those are groups of creatures in my project, my project has many trolls, friendly and aggressive ones, such as Yehwe Zogbanu, Abuhuku and many others. My new creature: Huay Chivo. I used the Huay Chivo as evil satyr variant, but also as a Skinwalker variant that wears the skins of goats, as Satyr variant they were of the magic-using variety that can control and enslave wild beasts, rarely being encountered without some wild beasts/animals next to them. I cut them from my project because I choose for the Bocanach as my evil variant of the Faun/Satyr. For evil demon satyrs I like ördog- a dark furred satyr demon always stirring a cauldron full of souls.

Cool, that Ordog is pretty awesome! I'm gonna change my evil satyr's around now because of that one. Bocanach and Ordog are now related.

Yeah, I have the ördog as a demon lord-style figure, basically a cultural variant of the Satan figure. It's a powerful demon in Lore and Order (my worldbuilding project) which sometimes takes on the form of a satyr, but not always. It's only one individual in L&O, as opposed to a species.

I hope you guys also post your world-building projects/idea soon on this forum, I'm kinda curious how that all writes down!
Ordog sounds interesting both as unique boss and species! I really love the cauldron-thing with souls in it though, that's why I want to use it! But I agree, I'm gonna add it as boss creature, probably a soul-collector for one of the four horsemen. So the Bocanach can stay a Faun-Oni.

Yea, I like the idea of the Bocanach as an evil satyr, but it could also be a Phooka variant. I think that Ordog is a different class of creature to the Bocanach, probably a demon as opposed to a faery.

True demon and faery distinctions are important I will post my bestiary list when I finish reading the Elements Encyclopedia of magical creatures and do some rough drafts to decide what from that book makes my final cut.
I could do a post on how magic works and the different worlds - earth, netherworld, realm of the faeries, heaven, maybe another world for yokai, and how all of that will work soon too.
Hey should cu chulain's monstrous transformation count or does that not fit a bestiary?

I can't wait Chaoticmyth! So please hurry up with reading! lol My next creature is the Kuchisake-Onna. I love Japanese women-based monsters, but there are a way too many of them to include all in my project, so instead I combined them together, like my Harionago has the slit-mouth of the Kuchisake-Onna, and also her scissor-like weapons, which she uses to cut off her own living hairs, and create keukegen-like (not actual keukegen) minions from.

The Ahuna is a very glorious monster of the sea, as Albertus says. What it eats turns to grease in his body. It has no gullet but a belly, and that he fills so full that he has no neck. When he is in peril of death by other fish, then he fashions himself as round as a bowl, withdrawing his head into his belly. When he then becomes hungry, he eats a part of himself rather than have the other fish eat all of him him whole.
The Gladius is a fish so named because he has a mouth which resembles the point of a sword, and therefore very often he pierces ships through and causes them to drown.
Aristotiles: Gastarios is a fish that is like the scorpion, and is only a little bigger than a spider. It stings many fish with its poison and kills them. It stings the dolphin on the head so the poison enters the brain.
What to do with these little medieval european fish?

In general I'm on board with a scorpionfish/ aquatic scorpion monster. An upgraded swordfish can work. The blubbery fish sounds like something a mermaid or finfolk would keep as a pet I guess. Personally my bestiary is already over half filled with water related monsters.

I'm thinking of using the water-scorpion as an Eurypterid now, though they are only the size of a spider in the source, I could easily ignore that.

Horerczy are the more boss like version with huge toothy mouths and summon swarms of alps that start off in the form of black butterflies.Samodiva/ vila- are one of the very few wind themed creatures on my list Bergkonge- never caught my attention and the art on most articles about it distracts me from the actual creature.

Let me take part in the conversation,I'll speak here. In my project there will be no werewolves or vampires. I think they have their own category in fiction stories. But I'm hesitant to put other creatures that have human origins or undead creatures and animated objects. If put it,creatures of human origin (like wendigo) will be in the mutant class. The undead and animated objects can be created from magic coming from monsters like hags and kashas. There will also be no ghosts (although it has some creatures of spectral power) or beings like elves or dwarfs, though i will include similar beings, such as nynphs and satyrs.

heres a thought monster duos. I have too many monster cats for generic one, and too many similar monster boars and pigs so how about monster duos for example Cath Palug and Henwen teamed up, neither one gets their own separate entry they just always stay as a duo.
